Siding
Fiber cement and engineered wood siding that lasts decades and shrugs off Houston weather.

Materials
What we install vs. what corner-cutters use.
Weather barrier
Full self-adhered WRB with taped seams and pan-flashed windows.
6-mil felt stapled up with no flashing at windows.
Why it matters: Water gets behind every siding eventually — the barrier is what saves the sheathing.
Siding panel
James Hardie ColorPlus or LP SmartSide with factory finish.
Bargain vinyl or field-painted hardboard.
Why it matters: Factory finishes last 15+ years; field paint fades in 3.
Fasteners
Stainless or hot-dipped galvanized ring-shank nails.
Standard bright nails.
Why it matters: The wrong nail bleeds rust down your new siding within a year.

Why us
Why homeowners pick Modern Builders for siding.
Most siding failures start behind the siding — bad WRB, missed flashings at windows, no kick-out flashings at the roof-wall intersection. We do the water management first and the pretty part second. We carry the James Hardie and LP SmartSide certifications. Your color is factory-applied, not field-painted, so it stays true for 15+ years. Every penetration gets a proper flashing, not a bead of caulk. And we haul away every scrap of old siding and nails — your yard is cleaner when we leave than when we arrived.
FAQs
Answers before you ask.
James Hardie vs LP SmartSide — which is better?+
Both are excellent. Hardie is more impact-resistant and non-combustible; LP is lighter and easier to work with. We'll recommend based on your exposure and goals.
Do you paint on-site?+
We prefer factory-finished ColorPlus so the color is warrantied for 15 years. If you want a custom color we can field-paint after install.
Will you replace rotted sheathing?+
Yes — it's included in the tear-off phase. We call you before covering anything so you can see it.
How long does the warranty last?+
30 years on Hardie panels, 15 years on ColorPlus finish, 5 years on our labor.
