Nylon/polyethylene blend, 1.75–2" pile with thatch layer, 8-year UV warranty.
Cheap polypropylene turf that mats down in 2 summers and turns silver in Texas sun.
Why it matters: The blade material and UV rating decide whether your yard still looks like grass in year 5 or a matted doormat.
Base
4" compacted decomposed granite over Class II road base with 2% slope for drainage.
Turf laid on dirt or a thin sand layer — puddles form within a year.
Why it matters: Base is 90% of a good turf install. Skimping here guarantees dips, puddles, and reinstall.
Infill
Antimicrobial pet-safe infill or silica sand brushed to spec.
No infill or under-filled — blades collapse and odors set in around pets.
Why it matters: Infill keeps blades vertical, cools the surface, and controls odor.
Edging & seams
Bender board or steel edging, seams glued with turf tape, stitched at high-traffic joints.
Nailed edges that lift, visible seams that separate within a year.
Why it matters: You should never see a seam or a lifting edge. Ever.

Turf Layout & Seaming

Nail-Down & Perimeter
1–2 daysSecure edges and seams with galvanized nails every few inches.
Infill & Grooming
