Outdoor Kitchen & BBQ

Built-in grills, prep counters, sinks, refrigerators, and pizza ovens for real outdoor entertaining.

Typical timeline: 3–6 weeks
Outdoor Kitchen & BBQ
An outdoor kitchen turns a patio into your primary entertaining space. We build with built-in gas grills (Lynx, DCS, Blaze), side burners, refrigerators, ice makers, storage drawers, sinks, and — where you want them — pizza ovens or Kamado-style ceramic grills. All counter framing is engineered steel or CMU block with stucco or veneer finish. Countertops are outdoor-rated granite, quartzite, or porcelain slab that won't stain, crack, or fade. Every appliance is on proper gas and electric, with drainage designed for wet Houston seasons.

Materials

What we install vs. what corner-cutters use.

Frame

What we install

Galvanized steel stud or CMU block.

Common shortcut

Pressure-treated wood.

Why it matters: Wood rots outdoors regardless of treatment.

Grill

What we install

Lynx, DCS, or Blaze built-in.

Common shortcut

Big-box built-in.

Why it matters: Real built-ins have all-stainless construction and 10+ year warranties.

Counter

What we install

Outdoor-rated stone (granite, quartzite, porcelain slab).

Common shortcut

Indoor quartz.

Why it matters: Indoor quartz yellows in UV; outdoor-rated stone doesn't.

Why us

Why homeowners pick Modern Builders for outdoor kitchen & bbq.

Every outdoor kitchen we build gets a proper structural frame — either steel stud or CMU block, not wood. Wood outdoors rots, no matter how well you seal it. We install to full manufacturer clearances on every grill — that's the difference between an insert that lasts 15 years and one that warps and fails in 3. Drainage is designed in from the start: every appliance drain plumbed properly, counters sloped to shed water, and cabinets sealed against wind-driven rain.

FAQs

Answers before you ask.

Do I need a permit?+

Yes for gas and electric. We handle it.

Gas or charcoal?+

Gas for everyday convenience. Add a Kamado or Argentine wood grill if you want charcoal/wood flavor for special occasions.

Do I need a roof over it?+

Not required, but a cover extends appliance life and lets you cook in rain. We can design and build a cover as part of the project.

How do I winterize?+

We install shutoffs on water and drain lines so you can blow them out before the first freeze. Grill covers protect the appliances.
